What is the difference between a pressure sensitive adhesive and a contact adhesive?
Good Question. A pressure sensitive adhesive is designed for bonds where the substrates will adhere to the adhesive when applied to one substrate. You can also apply adhesive to both substrates for a more permanent bond. The adhesive will stay tacky to the touch even when cured. Typical temperature threshold is 180 degrees. Contact adhesive is designed to adhere to itself when direct pressure is applied. Contact adhesive is applied to both substrates and should be dry to the touch before one substrate is applied to the other using a roller for 100% coverage of pressure. Typical temperature threshold is 220 degrees.
